The Tormaukin is a distinctive and atmospheric venue for private events, offered on an exclusive-use basis and hosted by our experienced in-house team. Everything - from the first drink to the final breakfast - is handled quietly by our team, allowing hosts to fully enjoy their guests.
We specialise in celebrations and gatherings where good food, a welcoming bar, and beautiful surroundings are central to the occasion. Events at the Tormaukin are fully catered and include a staffed bar, ensuring a seamless and relaxed experience for hosts and guests alike.

We offer two event formats, outlined below, each including professional hosting, catering, and bar service by our in-house team.
Day & Evening Events (Non-Residential)
Maximum of 50 guests
Enjoy exclusive use of The Tormaukin’s downstairs event spaces for morning, day-time or evening gathering, including the dining room, bar, snug, games room, and garden room.

Your event is fully hosted by our in-house team, with catering and bar service provided throughout - allowing you and your guests to relax, celebrate, and enjoy the occasion without interruption.

Private Event with Overnight Stay
Maximum of 24 resident guests, and 50 total guests
For larger celebrations and weekend-long gatherings, The Tormaukin is available for exclusive use of the entire house.

Your group enjoys all downstairs event spaces, all ten individually designed bedrooms, and the freedom to settle in properly - making it ideal for occasions that deserve more than a single day. Overnight stays remove the need for taxis or designated drivers, allowing guests to enjoy the bar and the evening at a relaxed pace.

Additional guests may be invited for your main event, with catering and bar service provided by our in-house team to ensure the experience remains relaxed, cohesive, and effortless from start to finish.

Guests arrive, the house becomes yours, and time stretches - with good food, flowing drinks, and long conversations around the table.

All private events at The Tormaukin are hosted with in-house catering and bar service, allowing the stay to unfold naturally and without logistics intruding. Typically two-night stays are our minimum - however, one night's stays may be available for larger private celebrations, subject to scale, season & availability.
Spaces to Gather....
The Garden Room
Our brightest light-filled space, bursting with plants & shabby chic furnishings,the French doors open out onto the patio area when the sun is shining.
The Garden Room is a the perfect location for coffee mornings and afternoon teas.
With ideal lighting for photoshoots, the space can also be converted into a dance-floor.

The adjoining outdoor patio is the perfect spot for a summer BBQ or garden party, to eat, drink or lounge on its garden furniture.

Occupancy: 18 people seated on one long table, or 35 people standing
The Dining Room
A grand ambient space dominated by rich greens, walnut & brassware. A crackling fire, a ceiling full of beams, and eclectic antiques, make this our largest and most impressive room.
The Dining Room is the heart of the house. Highly versatile, the room can be arranged with one long table for dining.

Occupancy: 24 people seated on one long table (50 at separate tables), approx 60 people standing
The Snug & Bar
Get nice and cosy in our animal-themed snug, or hop on a tartan barstool for a wee dram or two!.
A warm and inviting space, our snug is perfect for small informal gatherings, and to enjoy a coffee or a tipple by the open fire! Walk through the archway into the adjoining old pub bar, dark and dramatic and dotted with curiosities.

The Games Room
A room made for friendly rivalries, quiet concentration, and lingering evenings.
Set within original stone walls and heavy timber beams, the Games Room is a richly atmospheric space designed for relaxed entertainment. At its heart sits an antique billiards table, complemented by a chess and draughts table, dartboard, card table, and a classic roulette wheel - inviting friendly rivalry at any pace.
Comfortable sofas create a relaxed adjoining seating area, making the room equally suited to quiet conversation, watching the games unfold, or lingering over a drink as the evening stretches on.

At The Tormaukin, food brings people together. Every stay and celebration is catered in-house by our private chef, with flexible menus shaped around your plans - whether that’s a long, lazy supper or a weekend of shared meals.
